Takapuna Contact Tri -
report courtesy of Chris Todd

Last Sunday, the Contact Energy series race # 6 took place under the live cameras of TV1. TST members competing in the trophy race, were Thomas McLaughlin and myself, Thomas coming home 5th in his age group of  16-17 and 14th overall, and I was 2nd in the 50-54 age group and 29th overall. Later in the day, Josh Kenyon, Cameron T and Kate McLaughlin competed the cup race. Kate having a good start being only a minute down out of the swim. However the lead pack of women which included Andrea Hewitt, Kate MacIlroy, Kate Roberts continued to charge on the bike, and lapped Kate along with over half of the rest of the field, preventing her from finishing. In the mens race Josh had a great result coming home 6th U19 and 25th overall, with the fastest bike time of the day. Josh was accompanied by Bevan Docherty during the bike due to Bevin puncturing which would have been great for Josh. Cameron unfortunately had to pull out after four laps of the bike with cramps and did not finish, however he had a great swim exiting the water and T1 in fourth place.
